Who I am and Why I am seeking Re-Election to Chestermere Council
MURRAY GRANT

My family has proudly called the Chestermere area home since the early 1960s. I have lived here for over 40 years, growing up in Chestermere, attending Chestermere schools, graduating from Chestermere High, and purchasing my first home right here in our city. Today, my wife and I are raising the fourth generation of my family to call Chestermere home. It is for them—and for all of us—that I am committed to building the best possible future for our community.
From an early age, I was drawn to leadership. Whether it was serving as President of the Chestermere 4H Club at age 14, Being choose by my peers to be a captain of our football and hockey teams, or volunteering on many of our communities valuable Not for Profits and City Committees, I’ve always believed in working with others to make a difference.
Professionally, I am the CEO of my own successful business, and as proud of that as I am, I’ve always taken the greatest pride in giving back through community service. I have recently proudly served Chestermere and its residents in the following capacity:

-
Chair of the Mayors Task force on Recreation (Current)
-
Chair of the Chestermere Economic Development Advisory Committee (Current)
-
Co-Chair of the Seniors Advisory Committee (Current)
-
Co-Chair of the Community Grant Adjudication Committee (Current)
-
Founding Member of the Chestermere Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (Current)
-
VP Chestermere Minor Hockey (June 2025)
-
Streetscape Committee (2023)

In addition over the years I have dedicated countless hours to Coaching our youth in Hockey and Lacrosse.
As Vice President of Chestermere Minor Hockey, and through programs like Bauer’s First Shift, I’ve seen firsthand how sport can bring joy, growth, and connection to young people in our city and I have used that experience to help guide our Recreation Task Force as we invest in recreation and our people.
Since being elected to Chestermere City Council, I have worked hard to deliver on the promises I made to residents. Together, we have:

-
Achieved Full Funding for our K-9 Catholic Elementary School
-
Achieved Full Funding for our K-9 Public Elementary School.
-
Achieved Design Funding for our Public High School in Dawson (Full Funding Expected in 2026)
-
Invested in our Current Recreation Center. Clearing the way for future Investment
-
Invested in Protecting Recreation and Green space within our community
-
Protected over 70+ Local Jobs and much more

Like many families here, mine has faced the same challenges—supporting aging parents and grandparents, coping with the rising cost of living, and creating opportunities for our kids to grow, play, and thrive close to home. That perspective guides every decision I make as a Councillor.
I believe Chestermere is more than just where we live—it is our shared home. I am proud of the progress we’ve made together, and I remain dedicated to working every day to make Chestermere an even greater place to live, work, and raise a family.
