Our Cornerstones

Purchased CRRC Lands from Rockyview
One of my proudest achievements on Council was the successful procurement of the CRRC lands from Rocky View County. This is something I have long believed was important for our community, and it’s exciting to finally see it come to life.
For years, the CRRC has been a gathering place where families, athletes, and community groups come together. Now, by owning the land outright, we can move forward with a generational investment — one that allows us to finally complete the vision of this facility, expand programming, and ensure that it will continue serving Chestermere residents for decades to come.
This is more than a land purchase — it’s about building a stronger future, protecting a cornerstone of our community, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

A New Recreation Centre for Dawson/Chelsea
Chestermere is finally moving forward on something our community has been waiting far too long for — a new Recreation Centre in Dawson/Chelsea!
As Chair of the Mayor’s Task Force for Recreation, I’m proud to share that we’ve reimagined this long-awaited project with fresh energy, strong community input, and a vision that truly reflects the needs of local families. Best of all, the new facility will be adjacent to the future High School — creating a hub of activity, learning, and opportunity for our students and families.
Here’s what I am championing:
-
A Family Pool – Time and time again, residents have told us a pool is a must-have. By pairing it with other amenities like fitness, indoor fields, and courts, we can make it financially sustainable, inclusive for all ages and abilities, and a gathering place our community will be proud of.
-
Flexible Community Spaces – While sports will be the heart of the facility, we also see an opportunity to create meeting rooms and shared spaces where community can come together to collaborate and thrive.
-
Smarter Funding – Council approved a motion to actively pursue new funding partnerships. The goal is simple: Reduce the burden on local taxpayers while making this facility a reality. We’re exploring every avenue so Recreation can be built and operated without leaning on residential tax dollars.
This is more than just a building — it’s a generational investment in our community’s health, connection, and future. Together, we’re building something that will serve Chestermere families for decades to come.

Purchased Lakeside Greens Golf Course
We took decisive action to preserve a key piece of our community’s identity with the planned acquisition of the Golf Course formally known as Lakeside Greens. The move comes after the property’s owners indicated their intent to shut down the golf course at the end of the current season and proceed with redevelopment plans. This acquisition protects recreation in our community, preserves 70+ Full/Part Time Positions, 127 acres of green space, and reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding Chestermere’s future.
Just like with our other recreation investments, we’re building this plan for the long term. The City is developing a leasing and operations strategy to make sure the golf course remains financially self-sustaining while making sure the Chestermere tax payer sees a full return on our Investment.
Over time the Golf course will pay for itself but this isn’t just about saving a golf course—it’s about protecting jobs, preserving green space, and safeguarding Chestermere’s future.
